Personal Views on Microstamping technology and ballistic fingerprinting Since there has been a bunch of discussion in the media or Microstamping and Ballistic fingerprinting, I thought I would give my personal comments on this. The interesting thing about these laws is that it is a requirement on ONLY civilian firearms. Law Enforcement and Military are exempted from all of these laws. Why do you ask? It is simple to be honest. The concern is that the addtional components in the design have not been proven and may greatly reduce reliability of the firearm in general. So in short, the State governments that are instituting measures like this are saying they could care less about your ability to defend yourself in a home defense or personal defense situation.
