CMMG has been producing various products for a while. Most notably, they are known in the AR space for various products including complete rifles, magazines and upper kits. I actually waited to post this article by a few months based on the Fort Hood shooting and wanting the contents of this article to be held off for a bit based on that. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families that were victims of the cowardous nature of this terrorist (yes, I said terrorist -even though Obama refuses to use the words to describe a Muslim extremist that guns down numerous people screaming Allah is great). For those of you who may not know, the terrorist used two FN 57 pistols with the 10-shot magazine extenders mentioned in this article. I am taking the same stance on this as can be used to logically compare the problem and the blame. Just as nobody tries to blame or sue Chevy when a drunk driver kills person, neither can the blame be placed on a gun manufacturer or parts of a gun. <\/P>
So with that statement, I want to clear the air about this article and present this just like any other article on firearm parts and modifications.<\/P>
This is a very cheap accessory and costs below $19.99 on average. There is no tools required to install this part or any special knowledge to put this together. In my video I show how you make the modifications. It shouldn’t take you more than 5 minutes a mag (most likely about a minute a magazine after you have done it a couple of times). The kit consists of a magazine extender and a new magazine spring. You will need to carefully remove the magazine follower from the original magazine and connect it to the new magazine spring. After all is said and done, you will be able to put 30 rounds in the new magazine without issue. As far as viewers who are asking do you need to use only 28 instead of capping it out at the full 30, I have not run into any issues as of yet using it with all 30 rounds.<\/P>
If you are an owner of an FN 57 and think this might be an interesting option, for the price, it is worth trying it out on a couple of magazines. If you really don’t see a need for the extra 20 rounds, that is fine opinion to take too. I just wanted everyone to be aware the option was out there.<\/P>
